Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about health insurance, Open Enrollment, short-term plans and working with our agency.
What does Omni Health Advisors do?
We're a licensed health insurance agency in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Our agents help individuals, families and small businesses compare health insurance options, including ACA Marketplace plans, short-term health insurance, private plans, and dental and vision coverage, and then help with enrollment.
What is the difference between a short-term health plan and an ACA plan?
ACA plans are comprehensive coverage. They must cover essential health benefits and pre-existing conditions, and you may qualify for federal savings based on income. Short-term plans are temporary, limited-duration coverage. They aren't comprehensive, may not cover pre-existing conditions or essential health benefits, and don't qualify for federal savings. We'll compare both with you before you decide.
When is Open Enrollment for 2027 health coverage?
For Florida and other states that use HealthCare.gov, Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15, 2026 for coverage that starts January 1, 2027. Dates are set by the federal government and can change, so confirm them at HealthCare.gov.
Can I get health insurance outside Open Enrollment?
Sometimes. If you have a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period for an ACA plan. Short-term plans may also be an option depending on your state. Call us and we'll check what applies to you.
Which states do you serve?
Our agents hold individual licenses in 38 states. Our agency, Rise.H Insurance Agency LLC, is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. Not sure about your state? Call us and we'll check.
Which insurance companies do you work with?
We're appointed with Aetna, Ambetter, AmeriHealth, Anthem, Antidote, AvMed, CareSource, Christus, Cigna, Healthfirst, Highmark, Imperial, Medica, Molina, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare and Wellpoint. Plans and availability vary by state and county, and we don't offer every plan available in your area.
Do you offer Medicare plans?
No. We don't offer Medicare plans. We focus on ACA Marketplace plans, short-term health insurance, private health insurance, small business plans, and dental and vision coverage.
Are you HealthCare.gov or a government agency?
No. Omni Health Advisors is a private, licensed insurance agency. We are not HealthCare.gov or the Health Insurance Marketplace, and we are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government. You can also apply for Marketplace coverage directly at HealthCare.gov.
Does it cost anything to work with an agent?
We're paid by the insurance companies when you enroll, so there is no separate fee for our help.
